Santiago Orejudo-Marqués

Santiago Orejudo-Marques was born in 1974 in Majorca, Spain. After finishing high school, he went to study Architecture to the Robert Gordon University of Aberdeen in Scotland. After some years of practice and having worked in several Architectural offices in Spain, one of which was that of the well-known architect Santiago Calatrava, he decided to go and live in Athens with his Greek wife Christina. There, he started working with Athens based architect Angelos Tsagkaris and a few years later he became a partner to his studio.
Santiago is using materials with which he is very familiar with, such as sand, cement, gypsum pigmented colors even oxide. This results to the creation of artworks with a great visual and tactile impact. His artworks evoke strong feelings and can be seen as personifications of the earth, water, air and sky.
His first solo exhibition was held at the C. John Gallery in London in October 2016. He lives and works in Athens.
