Born in 1971 in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Adonis Flores has graduated from the Architecture School of the Universidad Central de Las Villas in Cuba in 1997. His artistic practice includes photography, video, installation, performance, video and PUBLIC space interventions. He puts into question the human condition through themes such as fragility, violence, insecurity, power, irrationality and death. His work is inspired by the experience of LIVING during the Castro regime, his stay in Angola in 1989, during his military service, and especially todays international situation. His funny performances and humorous and playful attitudes are a way of showing the various facets of a soldier or of any person. His practice is connected and concerned by the rest of the world when it comes to these themes. Adonis Flores was awarded the Premio Nacional de Curaduria, a Cuban prize that distinguished the BEST exhibitions in 2010 and 2011.
